Towering to new heights in 2016

By Jim Dolente, Jr., president; and Stephen Dolente, vice president; Madison Concrete Construction

As we kick off the new year, we are optimistic about the construction forecast for our great region. Madison Concrete Construction is excited to be part of such amazing projects as One Riverside Condominiums, FMC Tower, C.H.O.P Schuylkill Avenue Complex, 1601 Vine Street Apartments, among others, that help propel our region to new heights.

Speaking of heights, Madison was honored to have been featured in a recent article by James Jennings on what it is like to be a tower crane operator. With several tower cranes currently “dotting the Philadelphia skyline,” Jennings’ piece is timely. He interviewed our operating engineer Joel Crooks about his experience, featuring the One Riverside project (shown). We appreciate such coverage, especially the focus put on the safety aspects of these impressive structures.

Crooks noted a variety of considerations related to safety in the article, specifically that one inch in the air equates to a foot on the ground and he must be concerned with the entire site and surrounding area. It is articles like this that help educate our marketplace not only about the great projects in our area, but also the importance of attention to detail and safety that are often taken for granted when we simply marvel at such inspiring structures. With safety being our top priority, always, we are thankful to have a part in helping deliver this message.

As you embark on the new year, we invite you to share with us how you plan to climb to new heights and let us know how we can help you achieve such milestones in a safe manner.
