Keeping Safety Top of Mind

The topic of safety on and off the jobsite is something that everyone in our industry should always look to improve. With the advent of larger jobs, more stringent requirements from insurance and regulatory agencies, as well as tighter schedules, many companies have had to revisit their long-standing safety programs and practices. Taking a fresh look at safety can pay huge dividends. At Madison, we’ve had the same goal for more than 40 years in business-safety on the jobsite is the first priority.

We work hard to put the right people and practices in place to ensure that our employees, as well as nearby residents and businesses, are as safe as possible. Madison has developed a program that not only uses the safest of equipment, but training on such equipment. Further, the superintendent and foreman are responsible for conducting daily inspections, along with each worker being required to inspect their equipment before use.

Madison sets the tone for a culture of safety with the following practices:

  • Implementation and enforcement of a comprehensive safety policy and an in-house production of an Employee Safety Orientation program and video.
  • Weekly job site safety reviews
  • Established safety committee
  • Continued education; guest speakers
  • Weekly Toolbox Talks
  • Daily task plans or huddle talks
  • Practice safe equipment operating procedures; excellent supplier relationships and daily inspections

Whatever your safety practices are, it is important to review your process and be consistent. We want to hear from you on what works in your building and on the jobsite. Comment on our Facebook page and share your best practices.
