Transfer girder completed at 205 Race St.

The shear walls and eighth-floor transfer girder has been completed for this long-planned concrete-frame apartment building, which is projected to strengthen the link between Philadelphia’s Old City and the Delaware River waterfront. Madison is now starting the typical floors, which continue to the top of the building at level 18 (the mechanical/utilities level).

This is the city’s first project to take advantage of a provision in Philadelphia’s zoning code that offers developers a density bonus in exchange for providing mixed-income housing. The building will have 14,000 square feet of retail with 128 rental apartments. Click here for details.
