completed in 2016, intended to coincide with the 250th anniversary of Rutgers’ founding. Madison Concrete Construction recently was selected to provide approximately 7,400 cubic yards and 225,000 square feet of slabs for the foundations and flatwork on the structural steel building. The construction plan for the building calls for 200,000 square feet of lecture hall and nearly 2,500 seats of classroom space. The classically designed facility will house several academic departments and accommodate 20,000 undergraduates daily. (Check out the construction cam for this Rutgers project.) The College Avenue Redevelopment Initiative is a collaboration among Rutgers University, the New Brunswick Development Corporation (Devco), the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJ EDA), New Brunswick Theological Seminary and Rutgers Hillel. The entire redevelopment project is expected to generate nearly 7,000 new jobs. All of the buildings will be designed for LEED Silver Certification.
